Today, I'm bringing you some new music from Leeds lass Malaika. This R'n'B, jazz, soul singer/songwriter may be fairly new to the music scene in many respects but she brings a rich and mature sound that is well created and truly is something refreshing in these genres. Check out her new single 'Beat Out Of Time' below:
Jazz elements from the upbeat tempo and sultry R'n'B beats and bass lines mix with the soulful feel and harmonious, rich vocal perfectly from the off on this one. Those seductive melodies make for a track that will see you swaying along and losing yourself within the decadent atmosphere and beautiful flow found throughout. This really is a stunning track and a great modern day take on soul with the jazz and R'n'B elements working perfectly and elevating the track to that next level of unique, well-crafted brilliance.
When Malaika started out, she was showcasing an alternative side to pop music since then she and her sound has grown through experimentation to create a unique style that encompasses plenty of influences. This new sound opened her up to more audiences where she gained exposure on BBC Radio, supported X Factor finalist Luke Friend and was hand picked by Jamie Cullam to perform at The Montreal International Jazz Festival this year.
All that alongside support slots for Riot Jazz, festival appearances at London Unsigned Festival and the release of her first EP 'The Best of Indigo Sessions' back in the summer. It has been a very busy year so far for Malaika and with such brilliant tracks supporting her and all the hard work she has put in over the past 12 months, 2016 should be just as busy, important and successful for her.
