6 of the best... Winter Coats

River Island orange coat / Boohoo purple coat, £75 / Zara navy blue coat, £99 / Mr & Mrs Furs fur lined coat / H M coat / Zara black trenchcoat, £87

If there is one thing I love when it gets to this time of year it is shopping for new jumpers, boots, coats, scarves etc. After coming to the realisation that I only own one winter coat I thought it was about time I invested in another because it's just nice to have a little bit of choice and not always stuck in the same outerwear because of the cold weather. I set about scrolling through all the coats on every high street and online site that is of a reasonable price and I thought I'd round up some contenders and some classic styles.

First up the parka which is a staple coat for the winter, well it is for me anyway as that is my one and only winter coat. I love my trusty parka more than anything when it is cold, it cost £50 from Dorothy Perkins about 3 years ago but the amount of times I have worn it, it has more than paid for itself. With it being such an iconic and classic style it will never go out of fashion and that is something I do look for in a coat, timeless and sturdy for the cold weather. Onto my 3 contenders: the check wool coat from Zara, the tartan with leather biker jacket sleeves from Boohoo and the orange boxer coat from River Island. I love the check one but I'm dubious about buying it just from the looks of online and plan on trying it on before I commit to this one. The Boohoo one I have bought and I love it, I got 2 sizes bigger as I always do with coats and therefore it's really roomy for fitting jumpers underneather and the zips on the sleeves will be perfect if I have bulky jumper sleeves to contend with, though the button placing makes the coat a little too baggy on me but a quick couple of stitches replacing that on the coat is no big deal. The orange one is one that I still love though I have not bought and I plan on going in store and trying that one on too but I'm sure I'll end up with taking this home as I love it so much, it's a statement piece but being such a wearable cut I'm pretty sure I would get a lot of wear out of it. The trench from Zara is yet again another classic cut and I don't think the trench will ever not be in fashion, I'm not really a fan of the beige trench though and would prefer it in black or like this one, navy. The final boxy purple coat is from H&M, I love the colour of this one and the shape, my only issue is there is no collar as I prefer a collar on my coats but bar my love of collars, it is a perfect one.

Which coat do you guys prefer from these? And are you on the lookout for the perfect winter coat for this A/W?
